What a mudlark then and now is with details of items found.
Jenny Ridgwell discovered mudlarking when she moved to live by the river in Putney 3 years ago. Wandering down to the foreshore she saw people picking up things from the shingle and asked them what they were doing. 'Mudlarking and you need a permit' they replied, so she registered and joined them. Since then she's explored the Thames riverbank, discovering old and new finds and meeting the fascinating group of mudlarks who shared their history knowledge and the challenges of the tides, boats and every changing landscape.
Her Guide to Mudlarking explores how to mudlark, and includes interviews with mudlarks about why they mudlark. She'll share her stories and bring along some of her favourite finds. Her book is available on the day for £6 cash.
